Ganeshotsava 2011 held on 3rd September 2011 Kannada Sangha held the Ganeshotsava festival on the 3rd September 2011 at Sunnybank Community Hall. The day began with the committee members along with a lot of volunteers going to the hall and doing the decorations and furniture etc for the event to begin. Members came in large numbers to the event. The pooja was ceremoniously conducted by Shri Ravi Bhat and it started sharp at 6.30pm. The hall reverberated to the chanting of mantras and slokas in the praise of the lord Ganesha. This was followed by delightful renditions of bhajans and songs by all the members. It was heartening to see our small and very young members reciting the slokas. This was followed by prasad and sumptious offerings catered from Jewel of India. The committee would like to first of all thank all the members for coming to the function. Also would like to thank the volunteers who helped so much with arrangement, prasad distribution and cleaning up and wrapping up after the event. | Pav Bhaji Party held on 24th July 2011 Kannada Sangha held the Welcome Party on the 24th July 2011 at Sherwood Park. The new committee got to interact with the members who turned up in large numbers. The committee had prepared Pav Bhaji for the event. The members thoroughly enjoyed the get together while indulging in various activitites like cricket, kite flying, playing in the park and catching up with one another. The committee would like to thank all members who helped with the preparation onsite like frying the pav, heating up the bhaji etc. The weather was just perfect for the occasion. All the people present introduced themselves to everyone else. This was followed by Antakshari and cleaning up. We hope to see all members in large numbers for all future events also (Ganesh Chaturthi being the next one to be held on 3rd September 2011 ). Young and young at heart members came in large numbers. Asha, the bollywood dance teacher primed everyone to the beats of bollywood catchy numbers. Then they put the young and the young at heart group through the paces showing the bollywood dance techniques and steps. There was encore for more and more as everyone enjoyed the styles and steps and learnt the tricks of the trade of bollywood dancing. In between dances, everyone tucked into the sumptuous offerings prepared by Desi Chillyz. Even after the dance lessons, everyone danced the night away to melodious and catchy tunes of bollywood films. The dance and the grand music filled the whole hall. What was the highlight of the show were the very very young members of KSQ who were still dancing away while the stalwarts were resting a bit to catch their breath in between songs. It was hearting to see the gathering enjoy the evening to the fullest and the committee of KSQ thanks the members for coming together again to enjoy the "dance filled" night.
